My name is Jem McCluskey. I am an artist. I use cameras to create still and moving images from the ground, and from the air using unmaned aerial systems - I am an authorised, commercial operator. I am also an engineer, scientist, technologist and writer. In a past life I worked at executive level in the technology sector. I am a committed environmentalist, political blogger and activist.
I embrace all of these things and carry them forward as I create art, in whatever form that happens to take.
As a background to my photography and film work, I have many years’ valuable experience in the science and technology consultancy sectors, including academic research with colleagues in some of the world’s leading universities, consultancies and corporations.
I am a fervent natural historian, zoologist, ecologist, environmentalist and ‘techie’ and believe that I have a talent for conceptualization of themes for photography and film, producing my own short films based around entomology, ornithology conservation-based human interaction with the environment - currently working on several projects. I am steadfast in the pursuit of maintaining my technical and scientific knowledge.
As a photographer, film maker, writer and commercial drone operator, I have developed a highly creative style to produce my own work using a variety of tools, including high end equipment and software. I am an advanced user of the Adobe CC apps, including Premiere, Photoshop and Lightroom.
As a former programme and project management professional at senior management level in large organizations, I utilize my skills, not only in my own work, per se, but I am able to offer that forward into any role.
Both as a former technology professional and now as a creative professional, for the last eight years, I have been led by the need to be creative and innovative.
